work-based learning/cooperative education internship program
The ATTA Library of STEM & History invites high school juniors and seniors participating in Work-Based Learning (WBL) or Cooperative Education programs to apply for paid, part-time internship opportunities. Students gain real-world workplace experience in an interactive Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), and History environment.
Interns work alongside experienced professionals and participate in day-to-day operations, projects, visitor services, technology, and other activities that directly support The ATTA and the people we serve. Students have opportunities to develop workplace skills, explore career interests, and build connections with professionals and employers throughout the region.
eligibility requirements

High school Juniors and Seniors enrolled in or approved to participate in their school's Work-Based Learning, Cooperative Education, or other approved career-based learning program.

Able to work at minimum on public operating days: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm. (Hours of operation are 10:30 am – 4:30 pm). Mon, Wed, and Friday office operating hours can be scheduled in addition to the Tues and Thurs hours.

Have reliable transportation to and from The ATTA in Abbeville.

Compensation: $10 per hour.
internship experience areas
at the atta, interns will gain experience in multiple areas throughout their internship. depending on current projects, individual interests, and organizational needs, interns may contribute to several of the following areas:
Information Technology, - Assist with maintaining The ATTA's computers, networks, software, interactive technology, and audiovisual systems. Responsibilities may include troubleshooting hardware and software, installing updates, supporting classroom and exhibit technology.
Virtual Reality, Simulators & Emerging Technologies - Help operate, maintain, and expand The ATTA's virtual reality experiences, simulators, AI-enabled tools, and other emerging technologies. Job tasks may include assisting visitors with VR equipment, testing applications, troubleshooting devices, and researching new applications.
Interactive Exhibit Planning, Building, & Maintenance - Assist with building, maintaining, repairing, and improving interactive STEM exhibits. Job tasks may include ingenuity & fabrication, electrical & mechanical systems maintenance, robotics, 3D printing, exhibit installation, and technology upgrades.
Digital Data Collections & Research - Support visitors and local history initiatives by assisting with genealogy research, historical records & archival collections, and research resources data entry. Interns may also contribute to community history projects and historical interpretation. Help preserve local history by digitizing, organizing, cataloging, and maintaining historical collections and databases. Responsibilities may include scanning documents, organizing digital files, entering metadata, and supporting long-term archival projects.
Hospitality, Public Relations, & Customer Service - Help create a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors by greeting guests, assisting with admissions, explaining exhibits, supporting educational programs, answering questions, helping facilitate tours and special events, retail assistance in The ATTA gift shop.

Marketing, Digital Media, & Communications - Assist with promoting The ATTA through graphic design, photography, videography, social media, website content, advertising, and event promotion. Projects may include creating marketing materials, producing videos, designing graphics, writing content, and helping share The ATTA's story.
