the atta's story

The ATTA began with a dream, shaped by the legacy of a trailblazing mathematician from Shorterville, Alabama: Susie Ezzell Atta.

Inspired by her determination, courage, and lifelong pursuit of knowledge, The ATTA was created as a place where curiosity meets opportunity. Here, young minds and lifelong learners alike are invited to explore hands-on STEM learning, uncover regional history, and imagine bold futures.

At The ATTA, we believe that history and innovation go hand in hand. That’s why you’ll find:

  • Exhibits that showcase breakthroughs of the past and events that changed the course of history

  • Interactive spaces that explore the technologies of today

  • Programs that prepare the next generation for the careers of tomorrow

Rooted in the Wiregrass region, The ATTA celebrates the extraordinary contributions of local citizens while opening doors for students, educators, and families to engage with science, technology, engineering, and math in meaningful, exciting ways.

Most of all, The ATTA is a place where stories begin—stories of resilience, discovery, creativity, and purpose.

Because just like Susie’s story, your story has the power to change the world.
